The Piscataquis Times reports that more than a dozen prominent Republicans from around the state have announced their support for Independent gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler. Cutler’s campaign manager, Ted O’Meara, describes the endorsements as further proof of “the broad appeal of Cutler’s candidacy to mainstream voters in Maine.” Here is an excerpt:
[Lizotte] said he was attracted to Cutler “because at this crucial point in history Maine needs someone who can think for himself and is not beholden to the extremist views in both of the major parties. Cutler is a candidate of distinguished accomplishments and he can effectively lead our state. I agree with the great majority of his public policy positions, and feel he will govern from the center.”
